After Pentecost, the Church celebrates the solemnity of the most holy Trinity this Sunday. Even though it belongs to the core of our Christian belief, it is still very difficult to grasp. The story of St. Augustine and the boy on the beach is a well-known parable illustrating the limitations of human understanding when it comes to divine mysteries, particularly the Holy Trinity. While Augustine was meditating on the Trinity, he saw a boy attempting to fill a small hole with seawater. The boy’s futile effort, and Augustine’s observation of its impossibility, led to the boy’s comment that it was even more impossible to grasp the Trinity with the human mind. It’s true that the concept of God as three “Persons” is a mystery.
Perhaps, the best way to grasp this mystery is through the meditation of relationship, with love playing the key role. God whose very nature is love — is a relationship. St. Augustine wrote: ‘You see the Trinity if you see love.’ Accordingly, our love always aims at a third party. Let me explain this in more detail. In our everyday lives, we are used to thinking that love only involves two people, a love and the beloved. Now, in this relationship, it can also happen that one person dominates over the other. So, in the love between two people, unequal relationship can sometimes arise. But if the love of two people is directed toward God, if God is involved in it, then theoretically there can be no inequality, because God is always the fullness of love. Where there is fullness, there is no room for inequality and dominance in a relationship. The concept of equality in God’s love refers to the doctrine that God loves every person equally and considers them equal before Him, regardless of race, gender, social status, or other differences. This equality applies both to people among themselves and to God’s love for everyone. Because God is the fullness of love, he creates each of us in this fullness. Therefore, those who love in God can only live this love in fullness and therefore only love others fully.
Love is relationship. It is the highest form of relationship. And that, simply put, is precisely what the Trinity means: that God is relationship within himself. Thus, the terms “Father” and “Son” are not gender terms, but relational terms: The Father loves the Son, and the Son loves the Father. The Father gives himself completely to the Son, and the Son gives himself completely in return. Thus, Jesus says in today’s Gospel: “All that the Father has is mine.” The Holy Spirit is relationship; he is the love and life of God himself.
We are invited to live together in love and in community, as God models for us. Living in a community means being open to others and accepting them in their entirety. It means taking responsibility for our fellow human beings and seeking solutions to challenges together. God calls us to live in love and community to make the world a better place.
A wonderful example of this community life in love was the brunch on Pentecost Sunday. More than 500 parishioners from St Michael’s and Our Lady of Lourdes came together to enjoy the international food fare, which many had prepared with love. On behalf of everyone, I would like to thank the organizers and helpers for this wonderful demonstration of love.
Have a great Weekend

Entrance Antiphon
Blest be God the Father, and the Only Begotten Son of God, and also the Holy Spirit, for he has shown us his merciful love.
First Reading Prov 8:22-31
The Wisdom of God cries aloud:
The Lord created me when his purpose first unfolded, before the oldest of his works.
From everlasting I was firmly set,
from the beginning, before earth came into being. The deep was not, when I was born,
there were no springs to gush with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I came to birth;
before he made the earth, the countryside, or the first grains of the world’s dust.
When he fixed the heavens firm, I was there, when he drew a ring on the surface of the deep, when he thickened the clouds above,
when he fixed fast the springs of the deep, when he assigned the sea its boundaries
– and the waters will not invade the shore – when he laid down the foundations of the earth, I was by his side, a master craftsman,
delighting him day after day, ever at play in his presence,
at play everywhere in his world,
delighting to be with the sons of men
Responsorial Psalm
(R)O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth.
1.When I see the heavens, the work of your hands, the moon and the stars which you arranged, what is man that you should keep him in mind, mortal man that you care for him? (R.)
2.Yet you have made him little less than a god; with glory and honour you crowned him, gave him power over the works of your hand, put all things under his feet. (R.)
3.All of them, sheep and cattle, yes, even the savage beasts, birds of the air, and fish that make their way through the waters. (R.)
Second Reading Rom 5:1-5
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, by faith we are judged righteous and at peace with God, since it is by faith and through Jesus that we have entered this state of grace in which we can boast about looking forward to God’s glory. But that is not all we can boast about; we can boast about our sufferings. These sufferings bring patience, as we know, and patience brings perseverance, and perseverance brings hope, and this hope is not deceptive, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given us.
Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, alleluia!
Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: to God who is, who was, and who is to come.
Alleluia!
Gospel Jn 16:12-15
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘I still have many things to say to you
but they would be too much for you now.
But when the Spirit of truth comes
he will lead you to the complete truth,
since he will not be speaking as from himself but will say only what he has learnt;
and he will tell you of the things to come. He will glorify me,
since all he tells you
will be taken from what is mine. Everything the Father has is mine; that is why I said:
All he tells you
will be taken from what is mine.’
Communion Antiphon
Since you are children of God, God has sent into your hearts the Spirit of his Son, the Spirit who cries out: Abba, Father .
Next Sunday: The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Gen 14:18-20; 1 Cor 11:23-26; Lk 9:11-17
As you know, we have been working on the renovation of the old church
at St Michaels for some time now. We have achieved
some wonderful success. So that you can see this with your own eyes, the old church will be opened this Sunday, June 15th, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
We continue to count on your help. By purchasing brass plates, you can forever connect your family members to the old church (even if they no longer live here or have passed away) and immortalize them in the old church.

Homelessness is never a choice. Young sisters Abigail and Isabella* have never known a stable, safe and loving home. All they have known is a life of instability, neglect and abuse. A life of constant moves, and periods of homelessness, including times living in a cold and crowded caravan or their mother’s car.
As children, they had no choice in their situation and no one to turn to. Now, as young adults, they finally have the chance to break free from the impacts of homelessness to create a stable and caring home of their own. With your help and support, they can look forward to a brighter future that’s full of possibility they could never imagine before.
St Michael’s Conference of St. Vincent de Paul Society’s 2025 Winter Appeal will be held during each Mass on next weekend 21/22 June. Our Lady of Lourdes Conference will be conducting over two weekends of 28/29 June and 5/6 July.
